Negy says he will pursue legal action if termination stands, responds to UCF’s findings

Charles Negy, associate professor of psychology, is set to be fired unless he can convince UCF or a judge to reverse the university’s decision. Knight News obtained the letter Negy sent to UCF in response to his proposed termination on Tuesday, in which he said UCF has gone to great lengths over the last seven months to try and find legitimate grounds for his termination.

Driver in fatal hit-and-run of UCF student London Harrell sentenced to 12 years

The driver who struck and killed UCF student London Harrell in 2019 while she was walking near campus has been sentenced to 12 years in prison. Yousuf Hasan pled no contest to one count of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and was sentenced on Wednesday, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Circuit Judge Elaine Barbour also sentenced Hasan to eight years of supervised probation, which he will serve after his sentence, the Sentinel reports. UCF's General Counsel Scott Cole to step down, national search to begin

UCF’s Vice President and General Counsel Scott Cole will step down from his position as the university’s chief legal officer at the end of the month. Cole said in a Thursday news release that the decision comes after 19 years of service to UCF. “It has been an honor and a privilege to be here since 2002 when I joined a still young but growing public metropolitan university, one that still had crushed gravel in its commuter parking lots, but big dreams in the hearts and minds of every student,”
